Our new hobby this summer is bike riding!
At the beginning of the summer Ashtyn got a bigger bike and it took her only seconds to learn how to ride without training wheels, so this spiked her interest on wanting to go on bike rides all over Broomfield. Matt found a bike for himself on Craig's List along with a trailer for Eli, whom has no interest in bike riding himself...and the new hobby started!
I remember bikes being my main way of transportation when I was growing up and its so fun to spend our summer nights pedaling from one place to another. It's the best way to spend time doing something as a family and not to mention burning a couple calories all at the same time!
On whatever trail we head out to its tradition to stop at the "creek" where Ashtyn and Eli have to play for a little bit...
Then we are on our way to whatever park we come by...I am absolutely amazed at how many trails and parks there are in Broomfield - its endless!
I of course make sure to sport my sexy bike helmet - always setting a good example for my kids!!!
My favorite trip so far has been up to Starbucks off 287 for an after dinner dessert - of course!
It was a 6 mile bike ride and Ashtyn did great! She handles dirt paths, up
hills and down hills so well for being a rookie, she even stands up when she needs too.
We of course have had some close calls, where my heart literally stopped - but so far no broken limbs just scuffed up knees and elbows!
This is Ashtyn's favorite outfit to wear while bike riding - it is definitely going to be on her Senior High School yearbook page - the knee highs get me every time!
Eli loves to ride in the trailer.
We thought for sure he'd get jealous of Ashtyn and want to ride a bike just like her - but no! He sits in his comfy little ride, with his hands tucked behind his head and cruises along!
He's getting kicked out next summer though...
I'm loving our new family hobby!
