We spent our Memorial Day Weekend out at Baseline Lake! The lake is plumb full of water this year making it SO easy to enjoy every part of it! We jumped at the chance to camp, since it was going to be the only weekend out of entire summer to do so since both Matt and I would be off. We went out Sunday and spent the day boating and then BBQ'd when Matt got their with my parents and of course Uncle Kevin!
This summer is going to be a little bittersweet - We have spent the past two summers living every single weekend in our Camper and exploring new places in Colorado...but not this summer!
I LOVE summer time, but I hate watching out camper just sit there and miss out on our most favorite activity because our schedules don't allow...
so making the MOST out of this weekend was desperately needed, and we did just that!
Eli was Papa's buddy this weekend!
Eli has been asking since January to go on the boat, and finally the day had come to take that sweet 1st ride of the season in the Master Craft! Eli was in heaven...he absolutely LOVES every thing there is about boats and of course their trailers too, reminding me so much of what Kevin was like at his age. As soon as we got to the lake he had his life jacket on ready to go - Safety First! He loves to help load the boat - he carefully watches as Papa backs the truck down the loading dock and then as Uncle Kevin backs the boat into the water Eli runs back and forth from the front to the back to "check" on everything - (like he really knows what is happening, or maybe he does?) Once the boat is launched he instructs Kevin to go "FAST" and then sits on the back bench observing the water, the waves and every movement the boat makes - its just CRAZY how obsessed he is. I guess being a girl, I just don't get it, but there is something about that boat Eli lives for!
He still is not quite sure about the idea of doing anything behind the boat ie: wakeboarding, or "jumping" as Eli calls it, or tubing, but I am thinking this summer he may break out of his shell and join the rest of the us in doing some of the water sports. Kevin has high hopes for his wakeboarding career...
What's a campout without a campfire and roasting some marshmallows...
My kids LOVE eating marshmallows and stuffed as many as they could handle into their little bellies...
We played in the sand until it was time to go to bed, building sand castle after sand castle after sand castle...I helped of course, because I am pretty good at making them...just saying!
We woke up to a beautiful morning at the Lake, had some coffee and then headed to Pam and Steve's for the annual Memorial Day Cookout! It was great as usual and always a treat to see the family!
Eli enjoyed the donuts the MOST!
After breakfast, we headed back out to the lake to relax for the rest of the day. The weather was awesome...something that is a gamble when it comes to Memorial Day weekend!
We took more rides in the boat to suffice Eli's demands...
He now has taken over the "flag" position...even though the flag is bigger then him!
Ariana and the boys came to the Lake too for some fun! The boys LOVED the lake - they got to throw rocks into the water all day long and not get in trouble for it!
Uncle Kevers in his spot...
I think Robbie enjoyed the lake the most...he spent the entire afternoon on the dock running back and forth, jumping into the water, throwing out ropes and bringing them back in...he was busy!
Of course Matt had to take them all on a ride on the ATV around the lake - however Robbie stayed on the dock...
We had so much fun hanging out at out favorite summer spot - Baseline Lake! It was even better getting to spend it with Ariana and the boys! I didn't want the weekend to end, but I couldn't think of a better way to start out the summer!
